Thanks girls! Would you say maple syrup instead of the honey would work out, texturally? I gotta think Canadian sometimes 🙂

Go Canada! I love maple syrup too. In fact, my family calls me “Buddy” (like will ferrel’s character in Elf because I use it in unconventional ways).
Anyway, texturally, yes, maple syrup is fine. The sugar (in honey, maple syrup, brown rice syrup… sugar!) is what acts as a preservative. So you can really use whatever sugar you prefer, the taste will just be a bit different.
So experiment! And be sure to let us know how it goes!
