How to Embrace Your Beach Body

May 22, 2016 Beauty

Holy mother, it’s almost summer!

I know this might put me in the minority, but I’ve never been a huge fan of this time of year. I hate being sweaty, I feel like my makeup always melts off by the time I leave my apartment, and I’m usually stressed out about someone seeing my psoriasis.

I remember as a young girl being the last one to embrace wearing tank tops and spring dresses in school because I wanted to hide my skin for as long as possible. While everyone was begging their moms to go shopping to pick out swimwear, I was begging my mom to pray to Ganesh so that summer would never come.

Now that my psoriasis is in remission, I’ve truly learned to love my body and I definitely don’t have the same level of anxiety when summer comes around. However, I’m still not a huge fan of baring my skin. So, sweet things, this post is as much for you as it is for me.

Earlier this year, I wrote about how to let God pick your outfit (check it out here). The idea behind it is to make sure that you really tap into what you need to feel beautiful, look your best, and also be completely comfortable at the same time. I know it may sound like a pipe dream when we’re in an anxious position. But when you start from this place, you’ll have one less thing to worry about when you’re on the beach.

We’ve all been in the situation where we leave the house thinking we look cute, but 10 minutes into the day, we’re fidgeting, our feet hurt, our skirt feels too short, or we’re freezing. So really take the time to tap into how you want to feel on the beach and pick your outfit accordingly.

For a long time, I would get frustrated that my body didn’t fit into a small bikini like some of my friends. I used that as an excuse to beat myself up. But when I focused on how I wanted to feel, I realized that feeling feminine, cute, and even a little sexy was what made me feel best. So it made it much easier to find a bathing suit that would suit my body type so that I could feel all of those things.

To give you some ideas and inspiration, I curated some of my favorite finds for summer in my shop. I’ve included everything from bathing suits to cover ups to cute summer accessories. Check them out here!

And be sure to join the conversation in the comments below. How does summer make you feel about yourself? What are some things that you do to feel more confident in your own skin? Please share!
