Three years ago, two of my very best friends created something epic: an adult sleepaway camp for the soul. A 5 day experience for introspective men and women, entrepreneurs, and personal growth seekers to let go of everyday life for a while, play and connect deeply with themselves and one another.
Soul Camp is one-of-a-kind and it’s even more meaningful to have seen it co-created by two of my favorite people, Michelle Goldblum and Alison Leipzig. What started as a beautiful idea, has grown into a favorite destination for so many of us.
What stands out most in my mind about the latest Soul Camp experience was the first night, where we were led through an incredible exercise surrounding a huge bonfire to craft our intention for the weekend. Mine hit me within moments of closing my eyes, and it is now my intention for my entire life.
Here it is: I am willing to be fully vulnerable so that the world may be fully loved.
I carried this with me throughout the next 4 days and was eventually moved to be more vulnerable than I had been willing to be for over a decade. To make a long story short, after taking voice lessons every week for 12 years, about 10 years ago (after my divorce), I completely stopped singing in public. Music has always been the fastest way for me to connect to God, so singing in front of someone is like being completely naked with all that I am.
The love and support that I felt throughout my time at Soul Camp inspired me to get on stage in front of 200 people and sing my heart out like I never thought I would again. I honestly can’t wait to go to Soul Camp East and West later this year and not only teach but also see how much more I will grow.
I would LOVE for you to join me. Find out more about it and register here. When you register, be sure to write that you were referred by me so they know! In the meantime, if you need some proof that I was brave enough to sing “Take Me or Leave Me” from Rent at Soul Camp, I’m sharing a little snippet of that video below.
Now I would love to hear from you! Did you go to Soul Camp last year? How was your experience? Any questions about attending this year? Let me know and I will get Ali and Michelle to answer your questions below.
